Well I have held off as long as I can, but it appears that “the powers that be” really want ‘constant’ input to one’s website, so it looks like a blog is in order. I will en devour to keep these posts pithy and meaningful, but sometimes I do reserve the right to wax eloquent.
A bit about me and why I am in this line of work. Years ago, I was somewhat of a clueless thrill seeking young man without a lot of goals, dream or ambitions. I did have one natural born talent, I loved to talk. I found I was good at it, and while others shied away from public speaking, I took to it like a duck to water. Through my high School and college days I was not too far away from a speech, drama or public speaking engagement.
After graduation I gravitated to jobs that allowed me to use this talent, namely sales. In the environment of sales and motivation I was introduced to the concepts of goals, dreams visualizations and the power of positive thinking. People like Earl Nightingale, Denis Waitly, Zig Ziggler, Anthony Robbins and Wayne Dyer became my companions on sales trips. I read Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, and then James Allen’s As a Man Thinketh and then I found a small book called “This Thing called You” by Ernest Holmes.
It just so happened there was a small congregation just around the corner that was part of the denomination Dr. Holmes started, I decided to try it out.
For the first time in my life I heard a minister who really made sense. I guess you could say I was hooked. In the next very few years I took all the classes I could, with my sights set on becoming just like that minister.
Until a little thing called Life intervened. You see it is not a matter of if the teachings of history work, it is only a matter of when they do, when you apply them. Things like prayer work, generosity, meditation and contemplation all provide the conduit for Spirit to flow. It was not long before the fruits were clear and abundant in my life.
I met a woman, who became my wife, we started a life together that continues to this day, and we were blessed with a healthy happy son. Suddenly my life was about them, and not me. I decided to focus on being the best provider I could be, rather than to pursue a calling, at that time. There is a saying “not in man’s time, but in God’s time”.
I could say all was well for ever after, but that would be a falsehood. We, like everyone else had good times, and times that were trying. We had our successes and our failures. We had the times we take for granted, being healthy and young, and we had to deal with the illnesses, the accidents and the diseases.
Throughout it all, we kept one thing close to heart. Love.
It took the better part of twenty years, but one morning I woke up and said “I need to do something else”. Over time it became clear I needed to express that Call I had so many years before. Through a series of fortunate events, I did.
I have been a salesman, a business owner, a construction worker, foreman and contractor. I have run restaurants, started a church, driven trucks and been a musician. I have worked with computers, all sorts of technical devices and now I work with peoples hearts. I have been blessed, pure and simple.
In every wedding ceremony there is a moment when one of the couple “gets it”, it is hard to describe but in that moment there is an understanding, a realization, a flash of cognition, or as I say they “Get It”. This is like a spark that goes from one to the other, and they in turn “Get It”. Once that happens it spreads like a ripple across a pond to everyone involved.
There is a lightness, a sense of Peace and more over the being of unconditional Love. Everyone feels it, but I get to see it unfold. I am Blessed.
